Lee-Bauwens gallery is pleased to welcome Moon-Pil Shim for his third solo show at the gallery
Born April 20, 1958, in Daegu, South Korea, Moon-Pil Shim lives and works in the Yvelines, near Paris.
For his third solo exhibition at the Lee-Bauwens gallery, the artist deepens his exploration of the in-between. The title of the exhibition, Game of lines, sums up the work of the artist who has developed his own grammar, with works where the lines, spaced or close together, cut out and modulate the colored areas, introducing rhythm into the relationships of colors and spaces.
Moon-Pil Shim develops the alternation between transparency, sharpness and solid colors on the plexiglass material on the one hand and on the other hand the milky presence, the imprecise depth where the reflection of the color pulls the perception towards a recessed space. Also, but without systematism, the artist explores the relationships of the motif to its framing by playing on the hanging with a search for balance in imbalance.
Moon-Pil Shim, invites us in this exhibition to take part in another world, to make our gaze more mobile and to look deep, beyond the visible.
